Until visited Merthyr Tydfil on St David's Day, to go to an open day Tycoch - Redhouse, a new arts center blast room located in the Old Town Hall. The building was opened for the first time in 1896, but was replaced with the place as the Town Hall in the 1980s and by the end of the last century, the building had been neglected and abused mercilessly - when a nightclub, it ' to painted purple, pink dazed, lime and acid yellow and nauseous!
At the beginning of the new millennium, the building was left vacant, derelict and territory to ravens, Cockroaches and rats only. But following the capital value of 8m for redevelopment, on March 1st 2014 Old Town Hall opened its doors to the public again.
Arriving at the back of the hall, it was nice to go around the corner and see the red brick, terracotta and sandstone are the cleaned and restored, and the front of the building shines in the sun barely. It was also very encouraging to see a group of people of the town - no sign of dignitaries among them - are eagerly waiting to get access to a new center them. And when we groeson historical mosaic - 'Red blast room Dragon and roar' - and stepped across the threshold, we were not disappointed. 'There was a choir of young people sang in the local crowd slowly ascended the stairs and travel as one around the newly refurbished rooms. It must be said that the open day arrangements are great and a huge success. 'The staff was upset and were delighted that so many of the town's inhabitants have visited the building and that their response is positive and from the heart
Voices of the sheets with Down Factory / Voices From the Factory Floor under my shadow, I managed to speak with Chris Coppock, cyfarfwyddydd the center. And When We Can crossed the historic mosaic - 'Red Dragon and roar' - and stepped inside, we're not web to what disappointed. A two young people from the Slow Moving's choir Serenaded up the stairs and throng Around the beautifully renovated hallway, atrium and Various blast room sympathetically Restored rooms. The open day was obviously a massive success, the tone was set just right and the staff we're woking hard emotional and Totally overwhelmed by the cynhaliaeth of People who'd blast room Turned up, and by the cyhoedd GOODWILL Positive and so responses.
