Between the 15th and 22nd of January 2014 I visited Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. pig cookies By this trip I visited a little pig cookies places in central and eastern Europe. And yet this was the first time I was in the city who may for the most popular backpacking or city break in this piece of the world. This was also the first time I arranged a secret trip overseas, where the fellow travelers know where we travel it until the last minute.
Birthday gift for Andy, who came with me to Filniws in January 2013, was the catalyst that sparked the trip. When a bunch of us celebrate it 30 for dinner at Villa Marina, Caernarfon I told him I wanted to buy it cheap plane ticket. He was delighted. Very soon and on his advice, extended an invitation to others to join us on holiday to somewhere that it was not yet known to us. Iwan confirmed, one of a group trip Filniws, he was interested and so he ordered flight tickets to all three of us. Later, ordered tickets to Owain, another crew tour Filniws and Gwilym, who came with me to Fosgo in 2012 and Copenhagen in November 2013.
None of the four co-traveler pig cookies knows to the place we were traveling until we meet in bar Bewleys Hotel, Manchester Airport on the first day of tour. The only clues were given in advance that the destination in Europe and cold.
At around noon we met the crew lounge bar Bewleys hotel, opposite the terminal 1 Manchester airport. Me and William stayed at the hotel the night before as I had booked a package including nights accommodation and parking week for a bargain. After we bought a round of goffis Irish, datgelais where we still felt it fly. Trip that was no longer secret, but it was still a lot to look forward to.
We went to the terminal for brunch, pig cookies then clears the normal procedures in recording bags and safety. Our flight did not leave until Easyjet number 1801 17:30 so we spent the afternoon at Aspire business lounge, relaxed in the presence pig cookies of the light bar and free food.
Our flight was only two hours. On our arrival hall Vaclav Havel Airport, Prague was a big man with a bald head, beard and black jacket, holding a piece of paper with the name "Gb Edwards" on it. It looked like bouncers or hitman, this was our taxi driver. Thanks pig cookies to Ianto - not his real name, but one coined by one of the crew - we got our accommodation without any fuss.
Located our home for the trip - Carolina pig cookies Antique Apartment - on the third floor in a town house 12 Karoliny Světlé, quiet side street in the Old Town. It was a good choice as accommodation: plenty of room for everyone, kitchen and dining pig cookies room, washing machine and a convenient location pig cookies to discover pig cookies the city.
After unpacking and complete pig cookies the accommodation arrangements went on to search for food. By now it was about 22:30. We came across a pub Švejk on Betlémské náměstí. The restaurant is part of a chain named after the good soldier Švejk, fictional character from the time of the First World War which was probably a personification of the Czech nation. I chose the beef Goulash with dumplings potatoes and onions. With our meals there was bread and pretzels and beer dark enough. Later we moved to sister bar of the restaurant, U Vejvodů, pig cookies where we had our beers and wines further immersed in the Bohemian atmosphere.
Started the first full day in the city of gold with a twist along the Charles Bridge, crossing the Vltava river to the west bank. Is crossed, we had breakfast in the Cukr kava Limonáda, a small cafe on a pleasant and contemporary Mala Strana side streets, an area that is home to a significant number of embassies.
A tradition has developed on my travels recent visit parliament house of the countries we visit. And this is exactly what we did next. Noon we went to the Chamber of Deputies, the Czech version of the House of Commons. There we met our guide for the afternoon, Eva Dostálová, multilingual woman who worked for the Foreign Ministry of the country and was very knowledgeable of the chamber. We saw a short film about the history of the country's parliamentary medieval to modern times, before Eva takes us around the maze of houses and buildings that housed the legislature.
It was the date of our visit is significant. Exactly 45 years ago on January 16, 1969, there was a Czech student Jan Palach 21 called immerse himself in fuel and set himself pig cookies on fire. He died of his burns three days later. He did this in protest against the tyranny of the Soviet Union. It was a difficult period in the wake of the Red Army drove tanks into in August 1968 to put an end to 'Prague Spring', an attempt liberal elements of the local Communist Party to reform the economy and society wl
