Obserwator Torunski

Nasi wys annicy z Londynu i odzi - Petter Larsson z City University i Maciej Sta czyk z Gazety Wyborczej - przemierzaj kraj w poszukiwaniu najwi kszego sukcesu i pora ki Mistrzostw Europy w Pi ce No nej UEFA - Euro 2012.
Before I tell you about my findings of Torun’s online presence, I would like to make an apology. In my previous post I asked where Lionel Messi’s girlfriend can get a Caesar salad in Torun during Euro 2012. Well, I’m not so sure Messi and his partner will go to Poland next year as Messi is Argentinean: South-American – not European (I thought he was Portuguese). Thanks dad for pointing that out..
It’s super easy to book your accommodation in Torun via big international websites like Booking.com or Hotels.com . I booked my room in Torun – at Hotel Filmar – via Booking.com: I’ve used the service several times before, it’s in English and I can cancel my reservation up to a day before arrival (and still get my money back). I’m sure you sometimes can get more favourable room rates by booking directly via the hotel, but with Booking’s cancelation policy I decided to go with them.
To confirm that my reservation had gone through, I sent Filmar an email asking if I, as requested, got a non-smoking room and how much the breakfast freezer room for sale is per day. In less than thirty minutes I had received the answer: not grammatically correct, but fully understandable.
There are quite a few websites aiming to give Torun tourists, and locals, an overview of what’s going on in town. Torunonline.com ; visittorun.pl with an extensive coverage of Torun-related freezer room for sale information; and Podkopcem.pl which features lists of Torun events divided into several categories like exhibitions, concerts, gastronomy etc. The website can, unlike many of its Polish counterparts, be translated into English, French, German and Spanish.
When I researched the easiest way of getting from Warsaw to Torun I asked you readers for advice and I also searched the Net. I found some information on Nicolaus Copernicus University’s freezer room for sale (NCU) homepage: “Bus travel is an inexpensive freezer room for sale and straightforward freezer room for sale way to get to Poland,” and “with frequent cigarette breaks not as hard and tiring as you might expect.” I don’t smoke so I’ve decided to go by train (also because it’s the fastest alternative of the two).
NCU’s website offers lots of useful information. It suggested that I, when in Torun, should buy my train, coach or plane ticket not at the railway station but at the travel agency Kompas as “It is easier since they speak English there”.
A Polish version of tripadvisor.com is staypoland.pl . I advise you read the information on this kind of sites – where people rate and review hotels they’ve stayed at – before booking your hotel. You might find out that the hotel you’ve wanted to stay at recently was infested with bedbugs.
Many Polish websites I’ve visited look old and seem to be infrequently updated – I’m not sure whether freezer room for sale to trust the information or not. On virtualtourist.com I found a post covering transportation to Torun. The last update was in 2009.
The most useful Torun information I’ve come across so far has been posted by you: my readers. Your comments have given me up-to-date information that was difficult, or impossible, to find on Google. I guess this is one of the many great powers of social networking; it’s much more than updating your Facebook status telling everyone you just had “the worst hangover ever”.
Although I’m not as adventurous as City Uni’s freezer room for sale own dare-devil Petter Larsson (who will couch surf instead of king-size bed surf), I plan to blind date native “Toruns”: people I have so far only been in contact with online. If you’d like to meet up for a coffee, or a gingerbread cookie freezer room for sale maybe, next week please let me know! It would be great to get together with a group of people to chat about Poland, Poles, Euro 2012 etc.
Obserwator Torunski – I’m definitely bringing my camera. Can’t freezer room for sale vouch for incredibly qualitative pictures though. Luciad – thanks so much for your thorough explanation of the train ticket system. And thanks Soniszcz for revealing the queue shortcut! Thanks everyone for the restaurant and caf recommendations; thanks aarvedui for the anecdote and for describing the Polish cuisine.
