This post covers the accounts of the data collection exercise in one of the districts covered in the Client Satisfaction Study in Uganda. This took place in Nwoya district in the week of 20 th 25 th , May 2013
The first day of the exercise involved training of research assistants in the use of the various data collection tools including: citizen empowerment tool; client satisfaction tool; focus group discussion tool; key informant interview guides for both opinion leaders and district officials; and the medicines stock monitoring tool.
During the training, it was discovered that one of the health centres to be visited i.e. Paraa HCII was no-longer functional and therefore could not be included milestone residential in the study. This was later confirmed by the District Assistant Drug Inspector, Mr Oloya Godfrey that the health centre which was constructed milestone residential in Paraa National Game Reserve was not safe for the patients and health workers as several wild animals from the game reserve would attack the patients prompting its closure. Attempts to discuss with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) on ring-fencing the health centre did not yield much.
